CONSULTATION PERIOD EXTENDED UNTIL 31ST AUGUST 2012

A number of parties submitted representations to Blaby District Council requesting the extension period on the grounds that sufficient information wasn't made available. This was with regards to elements of the traffic assessment.

500 OBJECTIONS IN! & CRITICISM OF BLABY DC IN LEICESTER MERCURY...

500 Objections

We are glad to announce that yesterday (and little over a week since we started our campaign) it was confirmed that we have passed the 500 mark. Blaby DC have confirmed to us that they have received 316 whilst we have collected over 200. These are to be delivered to Blaby District Council this week.

Remember we need more! This development must not go ahead!

Leicester Mercury

This was in yesterdays paper:

Story by David Owen - click here to go to the original article

Campaigners fighting plans for 4,250-homes on the edge of their village organised their own public meetings over new proposals after the council failed to do so.
A consortium of builders – Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes, Davidsons Developments and Hallam Land Management – wants to develop land in Lubbesthorpe, near Leicester Forest East.
The planning application, submitted to Blaby District Council last year, was revised after residents raised concerns about traffic congestion, air quality and loss of countryside.

Leicester Mercury coverage and first public event

Leicester Mercury

There were two articles in the Leicester Mercury last night. The first here is about our two public events and the second here is a letter by Val Brooks of Leicester Forest East

First Public Event

Our first public event was held last night and we had over 100 people attend during the course of 3 hours. A reporter and a photographer from the Leicester Mercury were present and we are hoping for some more media coverage.

Residents from Enderby, Braunstone Town, Thorpe Astley and LFE attended and comments we received were that people thought it was an excellent informative event and that it was worth attending.

Remember our last public event is tonight at the Parish Hall, Kings Drive, Leicester Forest East, LE3 3JD and is between 6pm and 9pm - although we shall be open from 5:30pm

The Objection Process: Part 1

This is to be the first part of a two part series on how to object. In this first part we shall explain what requirements are needed to be fulfilled. Part two will provide example arguments to base your objection on.

1) It MUST contain the planning application number: 11/0100/1/0X (LUBBESTHORPE NEW TOWN DEVELOPMENT)

2) It MUST contain a FULL postal address including POST CODE.

3) It MUST be signed.

4) Your objection must contain REASONS. Merely stating "we do not want 4,250 houses" will not be enough. Perhaps, "The development will increase traffic congestion," or "The 4250 houses will be located in an area which is already operating at maximum vehicle capacity. The Highways Agency state that there should be an allowance for 1.5 cars per household. An additional 6,375 vehicles on the immediate local road network will cause severe traffic congestion and increase journey times."

With regards to the above, part two of this series will contain example arguments. Remember to follow this site (top left corner - follow by email) or email lfe.rag@live.co.uk to be added to our mailing list.

5) It MUST be clear that you are objecting. Open the objection with something like: I object to this planning application for the following reasons.

6) Objections CANNOT be the same. Therefore if you and your partner send in two identical objections they will be considered as one. Instead tweak them, change the paragraphs around. Change the structure of the paragraphs etc.

7) It must be sent to and arrive at Blaby District Council before the deadline - 25th July 2012.

Objections can be made in writing or electronically: www.blaby.gov.uk/lubbesthorpe

If you wish to make your objection in writing feel free to download our blank objection letter which is designed with the above points in mind.

Remember - each individual of a household should submit an objection letter (although try and not to send identical letters - see point 6).

If you have any concerns, queries, questions, or just want to contact us,  please feel free to email lfe.rag@live.co.uk, or leave a comment below.

PUBLIC EVENT - ANNOUNCEMENT

As our Public Event draws ever nearer we are delighted to announce that local photographer Colin Griffiths will be in attendance showcasing some of his excellent work. Colin's blog is here and features work such as "A Year In The Life Of A Lane" which documents Lubbesthorpe Bridal Road throughout the course of a year. We have also used Colin's imagery on this site.

Colin is against the development and has posted some excellent work about it on his site here.

Update: Leaflets and objection letters & LFE RAG Public Event

LEAFLETS AND OBJECTION LETTERS

The leaflet drop itself is completed and all 2,500 homes in Leicester Forest East have had them delivered to. Unfortunately due to financial restraints and a lack of man power we were unable to deliver to the amount of houses we delivered to last time. If you didn't receive a leaflet, a copy can be found below, along with the proforma which was contained within.

It is very important that EACH INDIVIDUAL MEMBER OF THE HOUSE MUST WRITE THEIR OWN OBJECTION. One proforma with three signatures is only 1 objection. We need numbers! If you have already filled in and posted a joint objection you can still write your own.

Any completed proformas or other objection letters can be given into Hayre Newsagent on Hinckley Road (formerly N. Sandhu - opposite Post Office); Cherrytree Gifts, Cherrytree Drive; or the letter box of 77 Kings Drive, Leicester Forest East. At each  address is a secure 'ballot box' in which the objections are stored before collected by us and delivered to Blaby District Council. In the alternative you can post it to Lubbesthorpe Development Team, Blaby District Council, Narborough, Leicester, LE19 2EP.

PUBLIC EVENTS

We are holding two public events. At these events you can meet the RAG and look at the development documents. We are holding these events because Blaby District Council are not. The events are designed to let you know how to object and what to write in your objection letters. Everyone is invited.

Monday 25th June 2012 between 6pm and 9pm
Tuesday 26th June 2012 between 6pm and 9pm

Parish Hall, Kings Drive, Leicester Forest East, LE3 3JD

Please can you also copy and paste this message or link it a further 10 people who may be interested in opposing this development. Please also send an email to lfe.rag@live.co.uk to be added to our mailing list.
